iO Academy Ranked in Top 10 Coding Bootcamps in the World
iO Academy (previously Mayden Academy) has been placed as the 6th best coding bootcamp in the world, according to the 2021 Best Coding Bootcamp Rankings from independent trainer ratings website SwitchUp.
The annual rankings, released on 23 September, are based on over 20,000 student and alumni reviews of more than 500 technology bootcamps in operation around the world. To be considered for the rankings, bootcamps are assessed across criteria including quality of curriculum, career support, and an overall experience score.
This is the first year that we have earned a place in the top 50 rankings for our coding course the Full Stack Track, entering straight into a top 10 position. We are one of only two UK-owned bootcamps to make the list. The achievement reflects consistently high standards of success, with only bootcamps with excellent alumni satisfaction (rated at least 4 out of 5 stars) being shortlisted.
iO Academy Director Mike Oram said: “We are overwhelmed to be recognised as a global leader in training people to become great software developers. As a small team we have worked incredibly hard to provide the best possible coding training since we started in 2015, so it is great to know that our alumni are as proud of us as we are of them.”
2020 graduate Daniella Skinner said: “The iO Academy course is more than just a coding bootcamp; it’s one of the best things I’ve done and I would recommend it to anyone considering a career in tech. It was a friendly, fun, and supportive environment and during my time there I felt that the trainers and everyone involved in running the course wanted the students to do well.”
Our Full Stack Track course is an intensive 16 week training course for people who want to change careers, teaching all the skills needed to become a software developer. We also work with tech companies all over the South West, introducing our graduates to employers who need new tech talent.
SwitchUp’s recent study of students enrolled in coding bootcamps during the pandemic found that 90% said they were satisfied with their learning experience. The study found that this was due to supportive instructors, helpful career services, and a strong sense of community. It also noted that as coding bootcamps are embedded in the tech world, they were able to respond more quickly and effectively to teaching in lockdown than traditional educators.
Our own remote student survey found that 100% of our students were either satisfied or very satisfied with the quality of training we provided during lockdown.
